Saving heat
If the body becomes cold, the small blood vessels that lie near to the surface of the skin gets narrower. This is called vasoconstriction. There is less blood going to the skinto carry heat from the inside of the body. This reduces loss of body warmth. Because less blood flows near the skin, it can make you look pale.
