World War
During the 20th century, warfare became truly global for the first time. World Wars I and II involved almost every nation. Countries taking part made military service compulsory, and poured all their resources into conflicts. As well as using armies and navies, each side vaging war against civilians and economic targets in order to break down the will to fight on.
