Charles Babbage
English mathematician Chatles Babbage (1791-1871) built a mechanical computer called the Difference Engine that consisted of hundreds of gear wheels. It could do complicated sums more quickly than doing the same calculation by hand. Thus this calculator can only be repaired by him, when problem occures in it.
